Meet your teachers
Laurie, owner of Samsara Yoga Healing Centre, grew up and currently resides in Antigonish, NS. In 2009, she embarked on her career journey as an RMT within Ontario. The physical demands of her job lead her into her first yoga class with intentions to manage ongoing chronic back pain. She quickly recognized the healing benefits of the practice and decided that the combination of Yoga and Massage Therapy was a path she felt dedicated to living.
In 2014, Laurie received her 200HR Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at White Pine Yoga in Pembroke, ON. This opportunity brought her into teaching regular classes where she could combine her two practices together. Her curious mind and empathic heart lead her to study Trauma Informed Yoga for Everybody, Yoga for Myofascial Release, AiReal Yoga, and has recently received her Somatic Practitioner certification. Her passionate style of teaching is not limited to Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin.
Her focus is to provide therapeutic offerings by integrating aligned modifications, challenges and confidence building through a safe trauma sensitive approach to movement. Her combined knowledge of anatomy and somatic awareness fosters a diversity of class experiences. Laurie’s class styles are a dynamic blend of calming and invigorating sequencing. Come explore and get curious about yourself through the embodiment of yoga.
Laurie MacDonald, RMT/ RYT.
Olivia arrived in Antigonish in 2017 to begin a life with her now-husband. She has two young children and a labrador named Gertrude.
In the spring of 2015, Olivia received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher certification through the Himalayan Institute. Since then, Olivia has taught yoga in a variety of settings. She is a believer in practicing yoga on and off the mat and incorporates yoga practices into her work as human resources professional, into her interpersonal relationships, and into the work of raising children.
Rooted in the belief that within each person resides a pure and joyful core of being, Olivia strives in the practices she guides to help others tune more deeply into themselves.
