yoga

“Yoga is an art, a science and a philosophy. It touches the life of man at every level: physical, mental and spiritual. It is a practice method for making ones life purposeful, useful and noble.” - B.K.S. Iyengar

Laurie MacDonald, RMT/ RYT.

Meet your teacher

Laurie formerly practiced as a full time self-employed RMT/ RYT in the Ottawa Valley and has recently returned back to Antigonish, NS in preparation for her long term practice facility. She started practicing Yoga back in 2010 as a home care modality to manage chronic back pain. With a dedication to her practice, she recognized the healing benefits and decided this was a path she felt naturally called towards living.

Laurie became a certified 200HR Hatha Yoga Teacher in winter of 2014. Following, she obtained certification in Trauma Informed Yoga for Everyone, AiReal Yoga, Yoga for Myofascial Release and currently continues her training with Yoga Medicine International.

Her focus is to provide therapeutic offerings by integrating safe modifications, challenges and security through a trauma sensitive perspective. Laurie uses interoception as a means to navigating our fascial system and nervous system responses. She’s combined her anatomy and pathophysiology knowledge with research based evidence of tissue consciousness within our fascial system. Laurie strives to provide a balance of calming, invigorating and uplifting classes and workshops that offer students the opportunity to fully engage, connect and revive through their own inner healing journey.

Class Descriptions

Candlelight yin (hybrid)

A soft glow in a candlelit room while resting in a slow, passive and nourishing practice of floor based postures held anywhere from 3-8 mins at a time. This style allows for the fascia, joints and connective tissues to soften, expand and rehydrate. This pause in asana and meditation opens a broader perspective towards our own interoceptive navigation. These guided practices are carefully curated to assist you through a comfortable and safe journey towards self-healing.
