As an East Coaster, Laurie Collins has been raised up from the seaweed and her heart is full of pride for her culture, family heritage, and home province. She is a voyager, community builder, and promoter of healthy living. Thirteen years ago, this East Coast lass dropped anchor in Pembroke, ON making it her home. Today, she is running a Sole-Proprietor healthcare business, Saṃsāra Yoga Healing Centre. Reflecting on her past for inspiration, she saw an opportunity to celebrate and share her culture, node to her ancestors, and help build a healthy and happy community. Being the change is her mantra.
Saṃsāra Yoga Healing Centre, in partnership with Aqua Event Management from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia are very proud to announce their first Annual “Anchored Kitchen Party”. Hosted at the Pembroke Royal Canadian Legion #72 with a percentage of the proceeds going back to support the operations and programing offered by the organization.
Now, if you’re from the East Coast, you are probably already getting excited. If you’re from the Ottawa Valley, you are probably wondering what in lord tundern’ Jesus is an East Coast Kitchen Party?!
The Kitchen Party, is a deep-rooted East Coast tradition, that at its core brings together our friends and neighbours, then building bonds that last a lifetime. Songs and stories are shared and many a tall tale is told. As the night grows dark, the sounds of fiddles and voices gather closer around the kitchen table, all while a huge pot of lobster steams on the stove for all to enjoy! No other feeling can match that feeling of community. Sharing music and a dance while breaking bread with friends. As an East Coaster, no matter how far your voyage takes you, no matter where you set anchor, home is always East and there is always a seat at our Kitchen tables for our neighbours. The kitchen party is a celebration of life and friendship; and don’t we all need just a little more of that right now?!
We invite you to come visit us at the Legion on July 15th 2022, where we will turn it into our kitchen. Fiddle music will fill the room, conversations will be had and we will serve a traditional sit-down Lobster Dinner for all to enjoy. Additionally, there will be a silent auction in support of local businesses with all the proceeds going back to the legion.

Saṃsāra Yoga Healing Centre is currently operating as a sole proprietor business in Pembroke, ON. Her mission is to create a safe and sacred space for her clients to connect and revive their being through professional health care services, therapeutic yoga classes, workshops and inspired special events.
Our founder, Laurie Collins is a light-hearted and passionate East Coaster living in the Ottawa Valley. She is a practicing Registered Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher under the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and Canadian Yoga Alliance. With a strong passion to help guide and assist her clients back to a comfortable, peaceful and pain managed lifestyle, Laurie has combined her educational training to provide her clients and community with top quality services.
